Certainly one of the highlights to our visit to Cape Town was the opportunity to meet up with other wedding photographers in the area. A dinner was arranged at a restaurant in the charming suburb of Stellenbosch. Still retaining most of its old school charm, Stellenbosch was like stepping back in time. The suburb is adorned with wonderfully preserved Cape Dutch Style architecture, which offers a certain amount of quaint uniqueness to the area. Well worth the visit with excellent company to boot. We were fortunate enough to meet up with the photographer’s from Zara Zoo, Christine Meintjies, Jean Pierre Uys, Monica Dart – to name a few. It’s always nice to be able to put faces to names and have the opportunity to get an indication as to what the local trends and tendencies are doing in the wedding photography market from the locals. It seems summer obliged photographers with a bumper crop, but with winter starting to lumber in, the harvest will have to be rationed accordingly. Make hay while the sun shines is certainly an apt proverb in the wedding photography business, not only here but abroad as well.
