Feel Good Blogging Challenge

Who Are you?

You would think that this would be a fairly simple question to answer, however when I look back on my behind the scenes videos and old photographs of myself I truly feel that an epic change has occurred. Change in that life-will-never-be-the-same kind of way. Why?

Well, simply due to the fact that the number one answer to the question, “Who Am I”, is now Mom. Mommy. Mama. Maaaaa maaaaa! It is all consuming, life changing, rewarding, exhausting, challenging but most of all so fulfilling in a way I could never have imagined. I am still a photographer, a wife, a creative but always at the top of my priority list is my little girl.

Why did you start blogging?

I started this blog back in 2008 to promote our wedding photography business. Seven years ago it’s appearances where very different. I recall having a conversation with Kat (from RocknRollBride) about my somewhat “controversial” decision of combining a website and blog and not having two distinct sites for each entity. Back then people had websites and blogs separately and only a few had taken the plunge to the all in one “blogsite”. Fast forward to 2014 and having a WordPress platform all-in-one blog and website is the norm. I am so thank-full that I went with WordPress from the get go and that different Themes where able to fit on top of my content seamlessly.

Who is this blog for?

First and foremost this blog is for me. It is an archive of mine and Craig’s photography and published tear sheets. It is a place where our journey as photographer’s as well as our world travels have been documented. This blog is also for you, the reader. In 2011 and 2012 when I was regularly blogging here we had consistent unique visitor numbers of just over 10 000 per month. We are still getting around 5000 visits now, so I thought it would only be fair to give a little bit of new and interesting content to new readers and those who have known us for a little longer. I aim to inspire you and to share with you some beautiful images along the way.

What’s something you’ve been working on lately that you’re REALLY proud of?

We have had a very busy year shooting a lot of portraits and weddings! I am proud of the many couples we have worked with over the past two years at Brilliant Studios here in Turks & Caicos.

You can take a look at my recent work over on the Brilliant Blog: CHANELLE’S BLOG POSTS – BRILLIANT STUDIOS

I am very proud of my husband, Craig, who is now shooting solo. We used to shoot as a husband and wife team and now he has is own weddings and portraits under his belt. Craig’s Portfolio can be seen here:CRAIG BRUCE – BRILLIANT STUDIOS.

What’s the ONE MESSAGE that you hope people take away from your blog?

Be inspired, be yourself, find your voice. Forge ahead, take a leap of faith. Don’t hold back. Create something beautiful for those to treasure in years to come. Remember that your family is the most important thing in the whole world.
