You may have noticed that we are a little behind on the old blogging.
My New Year’s resolution for 2010 is to blog more often – so watch this space!
I am very happy to announce that 2009’s resolution was recently (just in time too) accomplished – I passed my driving practical test FIRST TIME!
I have been dying to bring you this super engagement session that we shot with our Mauritius Wedding couple back in October, so without further ado and in Craig’s words… the Camden Market Engagement Session:
Lights, Camera, Camden
Having done a few London Engagement Sessions mainly in and around Westminster, Camden was going to be a totally different kettle of fish.
It’s where London’s fashion conscience hang out don’t you know…
A multicultural hot spot, attracting and eclectic mix of local and foreign visitors from near and wide.
Because of the uniqueness of the location of Camden Lock, what became popular in the 70’s continued through the decades as people still enjoy boat trips and walks along the canal to attend the stalls and markets.
Camden Market’s recent redevelopment was, as yet unfamiliar territory for both Chanelle and myself. Having read some negative publicity and aware of the protests leading up to the proposed development, we were pleasantly surprised with what we found. There certainly seemed to be a higher calibre of market stalls and shops throughout, without losing the quintessential ambiance that has made Camden such a popular destination with some of London’s modern culture elite.
Dom works in the heart of Camden, making the location ideal for a couple looking for somewhere removed from the usual iconic London landmarks, but still so very “London”.
I had a Wedding Anniversary shoot at Denbies on that particular morning, so Chanelle initially started without me. When I managed to get to Camden, I found the three of them relaxing at a Shisha Bar in the Market after a steady morning shooting session. The infusion of freshly brewed tea with the aromatic shisha certainly has a calming effect on the senses.
Jen and Dom are a great couple to photograph. Very natural with each other and seemed to easily go along with our proposal, which was to go with the flow and have fun. And fun was the order of the day. Initially a little apprehensive due to the mass of people, I really loved Camden in the end. It has energy and charisma offering something for everyone. And on any given Saturday it would seem that just about everybody is there.
The vibe and character of the place was truly electrifying. There seemed to be a quirky new location around every twist and turn.
Sometimes it’s an occupational hazard when spoilt for choice. As a photographer you want to keep the momentum going to ensure that your couple are relaxed and having a good time. Chanelle and I alternate by taking up the reins of shooting and directing while the other decides where the next best scene will be and planning the next frame. We bounced off each other excitedly discovering new locations with every few steps! Camden offers a unique opportunity to experience the aura of the hustle and bustle of its eclectic surroundings. – Craig
We just had to do some Big Ben shots for their folks in South Africa!
