Quick answer

Is an apple orchard a good place for a family photoshoot?

Yes, if you time it for the blossom. An apple orchard in full spring bloom gives a family photoshoot soft colour, paths to wander along and room for children to run about, so the photos feel relaxed. For this session we went to an orchard in Krakeel, tried a few different paths and found the spot we wanted among the blooming trees. The family posed together for some frames and simply enjoyed themselves for the rest, which is where the candid moments came from. Blossom doesn't last long. The date matters more than anything else, so keep a little flexibility in your booking and watch the trees as spring arrives. Orchards are working farms, so always ask the farmer before you go.

Springtime is the perfect season for a family photoshoot, and what better setting than in a picturesque apple orchard during peak bloom? That’s exactly what Taryn, Morne and their two sons, Riley and Reef did, and the results were stunning.

We ventured out to an orchard in Krakeel, where the vibrant and colourful apple blossoms provided the perfect backdrop for their photoshoot. We explored different paths and found the ideal spot among the blooming trees. They had a great time posing together, capturing candid moments and making memories that will last a lifetime.

The apple orchard provided a unique and natural setting for the family’s photoshoot. The blooming apple blossoms added a pop of colour and beauty to the photos, making them truly special. If you’re looking for a unique and beautiful location for your next family photoshoot, consider an apple orchard during peak bloom.

Frequently asked questions

When do apple trees blossom in South Africa?

In spring, usually from late September into October, though the exact weeks shift with each season's weather and from one farm to the next. Our Krakeel shoot was in spring at peak bloom. Ask the farm when its trees are expected to flower before you set your date.

Where is Krakeel?

Krakeel is a fruit-farming area in the Langkloof valley in the Eastern Cape, inland from Jeffreys Bay. Its orchards are what made this family shoot possible.

What should we wear for a spring family photoshoot?

Soft colours work well against blossom. In this shoot the family wore pale blues and whites, which sat comfortably next to the white and pink flowers. Wear shoes you can walk in, because you'll be moving between the rows of trees.

How do we book a family photoshoot near Jeffreys Bay?

Send us an enquiry through the form at the bottom of this page, or WhatsApp Craig. Tell us the kind of place you have in mind, whether that's an orchard, the beach or your own home.
