Cambridge Pre-Wedding Shoot
Cambridge is a popular pre wedding location for couples who have been fortunate enough to study there. It was therefore an obvious choice for Hieu and Van Anh who are originally from Vietnam and studied in Cambridge. Deciding to leave the UK after nearly a decade and return home for their wedding, a photo-shoot around a town that means so much to them both was arranged. Prior to the shoot Hieu had arranged access to several locations, as shooting within the colleges in Cambridge requires permission. We were therefore able to start outside Kings College and get access to Senate House and Clare College. As Hieu also studied at Judge Business school, we stopped off there which was incredible inside. It was Harry Potter meets Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We also took in Downing College before heading off to the bridge leading to Trinity College and finally finishing at the back on Kings College.
As with most of our pre wedding couples, neither had done anything like this before and were understandably a little nervous parading around the streets in their wedding attire. As photographers it’s up to us to take control of the situation and make the couple feel not only comfortable, but as enthusiastic as we are. This did not take long. Hieu and Van Anh were so comfortable with each other, a few words of encouragement was all it took for them to naturally get excited about the shoot. So excited that we shot an extra hour. The initial nervousness, although understandable, was not really warranted as both Hieu and Van Anh looked fabulous. Special mention must be made to make-up artist NICOLE GEARY who was very attentive to Van Anh and ensured she looked stunningly beautiful throughout. What I enjoyed most about our shoot with Hieu and Van Anh was the realisation that they required very little direction. The chemistry they had for one another could not be scripted. It became obvious that giving too much direction was counterproductive as opposed to offering a little guidance during the shoot for natural results. Both are now back in Vietnam and we thank them for being so great a couple to work with and wish them all the very best as they start a new chapter in their lives together.
