Segerius-Bruce Photography ("we", "us") is a husband-and-wife photography business based in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, run by Craig Bruce and Chanelle Segerius-Bruce. We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
This policy explains what we collect when you use segeriusbrucephotography.com or contact us, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible for your information
Segerius-Bruce Photography is owned by Craig Bruce, who is the responsible party and our Information Officer. You can reach him at [email protected].
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our website form: your first and last name, email address, phone number, the type of photography you are interested in, your shoot or wedding date and location, how you heard about us, and your message.
When you contact us by WhatsApp, email or social media: your name, contact details and whatever you choose to share in the conversation.
When we photograph you: the photographs we take of you, your family and your guests, and the details we need to plan and deliver your shoot.
When you browse the website: our website platform records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, and uses cookies that are needed for the site and its forms to work. We do not run advertising trackers on this website.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, send you information and quotes, and plan your shoot or wedding.
- To deliver your photographs and look after you as a client.
- To keep the records we need for accounting and tax.
We only use your information for these purposes, and we never sell it.
Your photographs
We love sharing our work. Our clients give us permission to share their photographs, so we may show images from your shoot or wedding in our portfolio, on our blog and on social media. If you would rather we did not share your images, or would like any image removed, let us know and we will take it down.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers ("operators") to run our business, and they may process your information on our behalf:
- HighLevel, which hosts our website, enquiry form and client records. Its servers are in the United States.
- Google, which runs our email ([email protected]) and serves the fonts on our website.
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to message us there.
- Instagram (Meta), which provides the Instagram feed shown on our website.
Because some of these providers store information outside South Africa, your information may be transferred across borders. We only use providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to POPIA.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to reply and follow up, and client records for as long as needed to deliver your photographs and meet our legal and tax obligations. After that we delete or de-identify them.
How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your information safe, including password-protected accounts and secure (HTTPS) connections on our website.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it,
- ask us to correct or delete it,
- object to us using it, including for direct marketing,
- withdraw your consent at any time.
