The irony of weddings is that by their very nature they can be quite stressful for many couples. Friends and family have come together to witness the beginning of something beautiful. Months of meticulous planning is finally about to bear fruit and there are so many ‘what if’ moments to contend with. The thing to remember though is that no matter how thorough you are, weddings have a way of deviating from best laid plans. C’est La Vie. What will be will be. Unscripted situations are often the best part of your wedding and very likely the moments you’ll remember the most.
The most common concern if you’re planning an outdoor wedding is the weather. What if it rains on your wedding day? For Ian and Arielle all it meant was that they got married in the rain. One of my absolute favourite couples who were faced with wedding’s nemesis; rain on their wedding day. It did not phase them at all, and neither did it phase their guests. Looking back at their wedding photo’s I love the element that the rain brought to their wedding. Don’t get me wrong, it was challenging shooting in the rain, but the results are plain to see. They never for one second lost sight of what was important to them; each other. Standing in the rain together, drawing comfort from each other was a very touching moment and one I’m sure they’ll savour forever.
Remember, your family and friends are united in one common goal, and that’s to celebrate with you on one of the happiest days you’ll ever experience. If there’s on day you’re allowed to be unashamedly happy, it’s on your wedding day. Embrace that it’s your wedding that everyone is celebrating. The best way to please people on your wedding day…just be happy.
