It’s that time of year again for your family portrait session.  The kids are growing up fast and it’s important to capture some family time with the whole family.  You’ve booked your photographer, confirmed a location and can’t wait for the session to be over.  For some a trip to the dentist would be less traumatic.  Who likes standing in front of a camera wielding professional unless you’re being paid for it?  Getting your husband enthusiastic about anything outside of his personal interests is a thankless task. Having the kids cooperate for an hour of your choice is often not a luxury most can afford.  There are a few things to bear in mind before doing your family portrait session to make it more enjoyable.  Approach it like any family outing where the intention is to have fun.  Get the kids involved if you’re looking for inspiration online.  Let them feel like they’re contributing to the family excursion.  They may even suggest a few different poses on the day.  Think about what you’re going to wear on the day and try have a specific style going.  Softer lighter clothing with no loud logos generally work better.  If you’ve had a family portrait session before, take some time to go through the images and appreciate the change your kids have gone through in a relatively short period of time.  Above all just have fun with your family.  It’s contagious and will reflect through your images.
